Trouble in YSR Family Vivekananda Reddy

Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s revolt against the Congress high command is believed to have created trouble within his family. A letter, perpetrated to have been written by his uncle Y S Vivekanda Reddy, brother of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, expressing his loyalty to party president Sonia Gandhi, reached the media on Wednesday.

In his letter to Sonia Gandhi dated July 17, Vivekananda Reddy said his family had always been loyal to the Nehru-Indira Gandhi family. “It was because of the blessings of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi that YSR could become the youngest Pradesh Congress Committee president in 1985 and that changed our position in the state,” he said.

He also pointed out that Sonia had saved YSR’s family by making him as the PCC president and CLP leader in 1999 despite losing elections. “Though my brother was not the PCC president, you made him chief minister twice in 2004 and 2009. Whatever position we are enjoying today are because of the blessings of your family only,” he said, adding that he would remain loyal to Sonia Gandhi forever for giving him several positions in the party.

If the letter is true, it clearly indicates that there are differences in YSR’s family over Jagan’s confrontation with the high command. In fact, Vivekananda is said to be unhappy with Jagan, ever since the latter replaced him as Kadapa MP in 2009 elections and pushing him to an insignificant position as MLC.
