Venkaiah worth more than Rs 1,000 crore?

Bharatiya Janata Party senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu has hardly faced political criticism even from his bitter rivals in other political parties. There were no allegations of any major corruption against him though he had held key positions in the party as well as the union government in the past.

But one person who could dare make strong allegations against Venkaiah was CPI state secretary K Narayana. He told the media that Venkaiah was one of the most corrupt politicians of the country, amassing wealth of more than Rs 1,000 crore. He, however, has not substantiated his allegations.

However, there is definitely some truth in Narayana’s allegations, political observers say. According to them, Venkaiah doesn’t get involved in big scandals directly, but he had his own share from business and corporate houses. There were reports that he had made huge money in the golden quadrangle highway project between Tada and Ichchapuram. His son-in-law is a big dealer for Toyota car factory, which he could get only because of Venkaiah’s connections, sources said.
