Nagma faux pas amuses gathering

The least people expect from celebrities is they get their speeches right at public events. Otherwise, it becomes embarrassing.

This is exactly what happened to actress and politician Nagma, who was the chief guest at an event to promote literacy among women. She amused the audience as soon as she began her speech.

The actress had done her homework well and incorporated all the facts and figures correctly. She addressed the women in the crowd as ‘mahila behenein ( women sisters!)’. Needless to say, this evoked a few giggles.

She urged them to complete their education before thinking about marriage. Actress Mahima Chaudhury, who was the other celebrity guest at the event, took a jibe at Nagma’s speech. “I am not a politician and I don’t know how to give speeches. I just know how to sing songs and with that too, I can’t get the tune right,” said Mahima, as she sang a song from one of her films.

She refused to talk anything related to the literacy campaign since she wasn’t too informed and clearly did not want to make a faux pas in public like Nagma.
