Sonia softens stand on Jagan?

The Congress high command is understood to have softened its stand on Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on his resumption of Odarpu Yatra from Srikakulam district from July 8.

Jagan, along with his MLA-mother Y Vijayalakshmi, left for New Delhi on Tuesday following a call from AICC president Sonia Gandhi’s political advisor Ahmed Patel the previous night. The message from the high command apparently was that he would get an opportunity to meet Sonia and explain his stand on the proposed Odarpu Yatra. This is definitely a positive development for Jagan who was confident that he would be able to convince Sonia, once he gets her appointment. The letter written by Vijayalakshmi also is learnt to have made some impact on the high command.

However, a lot of spade work had been done in the last couple of weeks for Jagan by his supporters like union minister Sai Pratap, MPs Sabbam Hari and Ananta Venkatram Reddy. They did hectic lobbying with the leaders and pleaded that Jagan gets an appointment with Sonia.

According to reports from New Delhi, Sonia too has agreed to give an audience to Jagan and his mother. The recent bungling of political and administrative affairs in the state by chief minister K Rosaiah might have also promoted Sonia to listen to Jagan and settle the issues. “All said and done, Jagan is a force in the state and Sonia, too, has realized that she cannot simply ignore him,” a Congress leader close to Jagan said.
