'Rs 7crs' is not mine: Chandrababu Naidu

Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu said that he has no connection with the episode relating to seizure of Rs 7 crore from a party leader P Haribabu hailing from Chittoor district last week.

"I have no connection with the issue. The Congress leaders are making baseless allegations, it only exposing their bankruptcy," Chandrababu said in reply to a question at a press conference in Vizianagaram.

The TDP chief is on a two-day tour to Vizianagaram district in north coastal Andhra region. He said many TDP leaders were running various businesses. "If there is any wrongdoing on anyone’s part, the government can take necessary action," he said.

It may be recalled that the Anantapur district police seized Rs 7 crore in cash from Haribabu’s father last week during a routine vehicle checking at Kadiri. Haribabu claimed the money belonged to his friends and was meant for purchase of mining and quarrying equipment. The Income Tax Department subsequently conducted raids on Haribabu’s residence and booked a case.

The police later handed over the seized money to the IT Department. The case is under investigation. (PTI)
