Rosaiah invokes YSR again to please cadres

Chief Minister K Rosaiah might have differences with Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, but he has no other option but to shower praises on the latter’s father and former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, in a bid to woo the party cadres.

Rosaiah, who had been to Tirupati on Monday, announced that he had written to the Centre to consider rechristening the village of Mannavaram near Tirupati, where the Rs 6000 crore NTPC-BHEL is coming up, as YSR Puram, after the name of former chief minister.

“The credit for securing the project to Andhra Pradesh goes entirely to YSR and it is really a tribute to the great leader by naming the Mannavaram village after YSR,” he said, while speaking to the media. He said that the public sector industry happened to be the biggest ever in AP during the last three decades. “The state government is committed to execute it to become one of the historical projects. It is heartening that the opposition parties also hailed the national project, which will provide direct employment to 6,000 families, while another 25,000 families would be benefited indirectly.”

Mr Rosaiah said that the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) on June 24 handed over the required 753 acres to the NTPC-BHEL Power Projects Private Limited (NBPPL), a joint venture company of the NTPC and BHEL.

The ground work would commence on a war footing. “The project required 25 lakh gallons of water and we will take all steps to meet the requirement,” he maintained. Mr Rosaiah planted a sapling at Mannavaram site, to mark the historical happening.
