Rosaiah invokes YSR to counter Jagan

After watching Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy taking West Godavari district by storm and getting tremendous response from the people, Chief Minister K. Rosaiah had to do something to attract people in the neighbouring East Godavari district.

Rosaiah invoked the name of his predecessor Y S Rajasekhara Reddy several times during his public meeting at Rajahmundry. He said that as the late chief minister initiated the Jala Yagnam project to take up as many as 76 irrigation projects to provide additional ayacut to nearly one crore acres land in the state, hs government, too, was committed to complete all the projects for the benefit of the people in the state. He vowed to continue all the welfare schemes and developmental works initiated by Y S Rajasekhar Reddy despite facing several hardships and financial constraints under the impact of global recession.

He tried to convince the people that he had not come to power by ditching YSR family, but had accepted the post only under the directions from the high command. “Though I served under six Chief Ministers including M. Channa Reddy, Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy, N. Janardhana Reddy, Anjaiah, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy as a ministerial colleague in the state, he wanted to follow the directions of the Congress leadership as a true Congress man,” he said.

At the same time, Rosaiah explained his government’s efficiency in running the administration smoothly. He cited the example of recent communal riots, which the government successfully controlled. “Let us concentrate on development and welfare to pay real tributes to the departed chief minister YSR," he said.
