Nityanand faked heart attack to avoid police

A day after he faked a heart attack to avoid police interrogation, doctors on Tuesday declared the controversial self styled godman, Nityanand Paramahamsa, hale and hearty.

Nityanand, whose judicial custody has been extended by two days, had complained of severe chest pain to policemen on Monday night. He was subsequently admitted to the Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology in Bangalore where he underwent several tests.

However, the results of the tests were normal. “He wanted to spend two three days in the hospital. Almost a day has been wasted by this incident.

Now, we are left with just one day. With Nityanand not revealing anything significant, we may be forced to seek another extension from the court,” an officer investigating the case said. A major disadvantage faced by the police in the cases is that none of the devotees have come forward to file complaints against Nityanand so far.

“We are not sure whether the women in the video clippings voluntarily took part in the act or were forced to do so,” the officer added. The police have issued summons to the women in the tapes.
