Hyderabad is part of Telangana

The Rosaiah government on Wednesday decided to write to the Centre seeking a Constitutional amendment to notify Hyderabad city as part of Telangana and not a free zone.

An all-party meeting convened by chief minister K Rosaiah decided that a unanimous resolution to this effect be adopted in the state assembly on Thursday. The resolution would be sent to the Union home ministry requesting that the Presidential Orders of 1975 be modified through a Constitutional amendment bill.

The bill seeks to remove clause 14 (F) of the, which states that the police personnel in Hyderabad could be appointed as per the Hyderabad Police Act and not according to the Six-point formula, which specifies zone-wise recruitment of the government employees. The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a petition filed by the state government seeking a review of its earlier ruling declaring Hyderabad as a free zone for recruitment of police personnel.
