Adam Gilchrist admitted his Deccan Chargers weren't up to the mark in the tournament opener in Mumbai before the toss, and seconds after winning it rather matter of factly said he wasn't too concerned. Gilchrist's decision to bat on a pitch that most believed was good for batting appeared the right one, and his unchanged XI will need to be tidier than they were against Kolkata Knight Riders to break a winless streak that extends back to last May.

For their first game of IPL 2010 Chennai, in front of a bustling home crowd, handed former South Africa and ICL allrounder Justin Kemp his IPL debut. They also went in with two offspinners, Muttiah Muralitharan and local boy R Ashwin.
