While our southern belles are swiftly sashaying to the Mumbai call, Sameera says, “I started my acting career in Hindi films and I’m already a big star there but I would love to do both.” With the runaway hit Vaaranam Aayiram, she won praise and some meaty offers but the girl shares, “I got a number of offers but I was extremely selective and hence the long gap.” And on rumours about her pay-packet tantrums, she clarifies, “I was merely looking for interesting work and money was not the sole focus.” So does she predict similar success for Aasal as Vaaranam Aayiram? “The film has turned out really well..

A whole chunk of it was shot in France. It’s a stylish film and I look very glamorous in the movie.Working with Ajith must have been a fun experience? She discloses that, “I love calling him Thala and he’s so great to work with.” Drawing a parallel with her Bollywood co-stars she says, “I’ve worked with Suriya and Ajith and have met Vikram. Stars in the south are generally more down to earth unlike the stars from Bollywood.”

Future flicks

The actress will star in Gautham Vasudev Menon’s next film which is an exciting thriller. Also in her kitty is a Malayalam film with Mohanlal and a couple of films in Hindi including one under the direction of Priyadarshan.

My friends find me boring

Even when I’m not in Bombay, I call my mom and report to her. When in Bombay, I spend my time with my family rather than going out with friends and so they find me boring and complain.
