Sequel culture has started in Telugu film industry way back many years but still, that’s bringing in bigger hype. When something is made as sequel or flavor of a hit film title and cast, the expectations are soaring high. Now Arya-2 has seen light. Let us see how it’s received by audiences.

Story:
It’s the story of two friends Arya (Arjun) and Ajay (Navadeep) who fall in love with same girl Geeta (Kajal).

Arya’s possessiveness for Ajay is the underlined aspect in this movie. But Ajay never likes Arya. Despite, he places him in his company for not being able to bear his torture.

Geeta comes as colleague in their office and story starts from then. But Rajireddy (Mukesh Rishi), the father of Geeta arranges her marriage with the son of another factionist. Arya takes the responsibility to cancel that wedding and enters the village. He says to Ajay that he would bring Geeta for him. How things turn from there…falls rest of the plot.

Performances:
Allu Arjun appeared confusing in the film. His obsession for his friend Ajay has projected him on the lines of a ‘gay’, and many in theatre shouted the word! That’s because of mishandling of narration. On the other hand his contrast in characterization is disgusting. Sometimes he looks convincing and many times confusing. Director should be questioned for that.

Although Navadeep is a very able actor in delivering histrionics he was not given that chance by the director. His character remained dull through out.

Kajal looked innocent, beautiful and charming while Shraddha Das glued some oozing glamour to screen.

‘Ringa Ringa..’ girl has got glowing skin but lacked in raunchy appeal that’s required for an item girl. Others are ok in their shoes.

While every department worked with all dedication it’s the flaw of director that marred the film. Cinematography, Choreography and Music stood high but the director made a confused concoction and ruined entire show. He got confused with screenplay part in second half.

Analysis:
It’s the movie released with many expectations but finally ended up as a disappointment. The masses in theatres yelled like hell when the show has begun but slowly turned pale and passive as the movie is rolling on.

Many are seen walking out of theatres either for a puff of smoke or relax in rest rooms especially in second half. First half is a bit ok. Only songs stood as saving grace by the virtue of Allu Arjun’s dances and music.

Coming to the essence in the movie, it has given many negative signs on a whole: The following doubts would light in the minds of audience:

* Is the protagonist a sadist or a gay or a mentally imbalanced one?
* Is the heroine character less who runs behind any man who sheds tears for her?
* Is the director conveying that marriage ritual has no significance?
* Is the director introducing the wife swapping subject on Telugu screen?
* Is the director confused totally?

The first day morning show has given a signal that it’s going to be thumbs down in B,C centers. But A centers may find some oxygen. On a whole it’s a disappointment.

Mega Magadheera 100 Days Function @ Rs 3 Crores

The mega blockbuster ‘Magadheera’ recently reached another milestone when it completed 100 days successfully. The film has created history not just in the Telugu circuit but throughout the nation given its genre and the visual impact. Now, another impact is likely from producer Allu Aravind.

There is news that Aravind and his team have decided that the 100 day celebration would be happening in a mind blowing manner. This time, the place would be Hyderabad and sources reveal that the event is being organized at a budget of a whopping Rs 3 crores.

The makers want to send another statement that no film would have celebrated their 100 day completion like this. So it could well be that ‘Magadheera’ would be creating a new record there as well, given the budget and the grand plans for the event. The date has been set as December 19th.

Rajinikanth’s Robot to Touch 165 crore's

Director shankar always does a big budget projects and he is certainly one of the untouched directors of Indian cinema. He is directing a Rajinikanth’s upcoming science fiction ‘Endhiran’ (Robot in Telugu), which was thought to be made at a budget of about Rs 100 crore, seems to cost much more than estimated.

It is said that the film may now exceed a massive budget of Rs 165 crore. This is undoubtedly the highest budget film ever made in the Indian cinema. The buzz is that the cost of one particular song in the film had reached Rs 30 crore.

Robot has south Indian superstar Rajinikanth romancing former miss world Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Action king Arjun is said to play a key role in the film. J D Chakravarthy is playing the role of the villain for this magnum opus. The film is set for 2010 release. The films background score and music is composed by Oscar award winner A R Rahman.

For the first time, the off screen love birds Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are pairing up and the expectations are high since it is also coming from Karan Johar. While the posters created a bit of controversy, here is a look at whether the film is worth or not.

Story:
A love tale ridden with terror, the story begins on the backdrop of a university in Delhi and here is Avantika (Kareena), a professor who returns from New York to see her ailing father and joins the university. Her life takes a turn with the joining of the new professor Ehsaan Khan (Saif) and in no time, he manages to woo her and win her heart as well. Soon, Avantika gets a call to return to New York and Ehsaan offers to join her.

They get married, take a home, find new Muslim neighbors and even visit their place for dinner. One day, Salma (Nauheed) comes to Avantika and asks for help as her life is in danger. Soon, Avantika is exposed to a vicious layer of plots and realizes that she was just a part of it. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Performances: Saif Ali Khan:
He has come up with a decent performance and looked apt with the icy look. Unlike his energy driven performances, this was rather calm and suited the character.

Kareena Kapoor:
She looks beautiful and has enacted the emotional scenes very well. However, she needs to put an extra ounce of flesh on her body, that would make her look even more charming. She looks trendy.

Om Puri:
He is the best bet for such a role and though he looks too elegant for a fundamentalist, his cold stare and heavy dialogue delivery sure makes him look like the perfect mastermind.

Vivek Oberoi:
His character had depth and intensity and Vivek carried his role with élan, his expressions during the serious scenes were impact creating.

Kirron Kher:
She carries her role with elegance and her presence was felt strongly on the screen. There is maturity in her performance and her screen chemistry is effective.

Dia Mirza
Her role was brief but she looks pretty though she doesn’t have that Muslim girl look.

Others:
Nauheed looks sweet but scary after she is dead, the American actors were good, Akash Khurana just came and went, Kulbushan Kharbanda shines for few seconds.

Analysis:
This is like any other film on terrorism but with US backdrop. The movie Newyork, The Wednesday, Mani Rathnam’s Roja etc fall in this genre but every thing has its own convincing line of narration with set characters. Kurbaan is one such film.

The main drawback in this film is it has got no much energy in narration and less thrilling moments as it’s quite predictable for audiences those who have used to this kind of films. The plus side in this film is that t has got horripilate background score that pulls audiences to screens with pin drop silence.

There is a message in this film for girls especially ‘Don’t blindly allow your new found lovers to fly along with you to any country as dependant. Your life may get screwed”

On a whole, the commercial quotient in this film is meager although it has got a hot nude song, that pulls a set of crowds. Otherwise, it is a good film with no great features.

Amrita Rao semi nude photo shoot stopped by MNS

Actor Amrita Rao recently faced the wrath of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists. The incident occurred when Amrita Rao was in the midst of a photo shoot for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Amrita was shooting for an ad campaign that talked about how people should clamp down on cruelty to animals.

The alleged MNS activists stormed the sets and disrupted the shoot because they had information that the actress was doing a semi nude photo session. They said they had information that the actor was doing the photo session wearing hardly anything. They thought it was a sleazy shoot.

"Strangely, the people thought that the shoot was being done by Amrita Arora. However, the crew spoke to the MNS activists and explained to them the concept of the shoot. The people also saw that Amrita was decently dressed. Thankfully, they understood that Amrita was doing this for charity and left the sets after apologizing," said a source.

Amrita said, "It was a scary incident. Suddenly a few men barged onto the sets and created a scene. What’s even stranger is that the people thought it was Amrita Arora. She is pregnant, so how on earth could she be doing an ad campaign?"

After a pause, she added, I decide what I want to endorse and what I want to wear as long as it is in sync with a standard mode of conduct.

Kareena Kapoor requests producer to change her kissing scenes

Kangna Ranaut has no links with Headley: Father

After Bollywood actress Kangna Ranaut’s name surfaced in connection with the probe into David Coleman Headley a man suspected of involvement in the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai Kangna’s father Thursday strongly denied any link.

Pakistani origin US citizen Headley was recently arrested by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and charged with plotting terror attacks in Denmark. After his arrest, FBI officials have also alleged that he was involved in last year’s 26/11 attack, and was planning more attacks in India at the behest of the Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Toiba.

’My daughter (Kangana) has no links with Lashkar aide David Headley. She never met nor spoke to Headley. We are really disturbed after such allegations were levelled against her,’ her father Amardeep Ranaut told IANS over phone.

The family of Kangna is settled at Bhambla village near Hamirpur town of Himachal Pradesh, some 200 km from state capital Shimla.

’We are consulting lawyers in this regard. We will take legal action against those who are spreading rumours (about her link with Headley),’ he said.

Asked about Kangna’s acquaintance with filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s son Rahul, Amardeep said: ’She has worked in some of Mahesh Bhatt’s films, but she has never met Rahul.’

Rahul has been questioned as a witness in the Headley investigation, as Headley used Rahul’s south Mumbai gym during his stay in the city a few days before the 26/11 attack.

Headley had befriended Rahul and there have been rumours denied by the Bhats that Rahul introduced Headley to Bollywood stars Emraan Hashmi, Aarti Chhabria and Kangna Ranaut.

’She will meet reporters at the appropriate time,’ Kangna’s father said.

Kangna these days is in Himachal Pradesh to mourn the death of her great grandfather.
