It was in August 2007 that the city faced the most terrifying terrorist attack in its long history. The twin blasts that were triggered at Lumbini Park and Gokul Chat Bhandar left 43 people dead and the lives of many families of the victims shattered.
It is also this month that the city also known as mini-India faced three specific terrorist attack warnings. The first one was related to the Badminton Championship that saw the Brits signing off from the event. The second warning said that the terrorists would try to disrupt the Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
That day too became just another peaceful day for Hyderabadis. Now, the threat of attacks by left-wing extremists or terrorists is being held to disturb the festivities of Ganesh Chaturthi or the gaiety of Ramzan.
The changing circumstances in Pakistan where Islamabad is finding itself in the vortex of violence could mean India and its cities including Hyderabad may be in the throes of a spell of peace, senior security officials contend.
