The designers and models set the ramp on fire, to bring the world’s most iconic doll Barbie, to life at the LIFW 2009. The Indian face of the Barbie is none other than Bollywood’s glam doll — Katrina Kaif, who walked the ramp in Nishka Lulla’s winning design. “The doll will be a Katrina Kaif look-alike,” a Mattel India spokesperson confirmed.
However, if we were to have a Kollywood Barbie, many in the city feel that Trisha or Nayanthara would fit the bill.
Actor Vivek says, “I think Nayanthara would be the perfect face of Barbie from Kollywood, as she has the baby-like face and a great physique. I think an innocent face is the basis of selection if we look at Hollywood inspired Barbies. Marilyn Monroe was chosen as she has a great body and a baby’s face.”
Fashion designer Vivek Karunakaran feels that Shriya Saran should be immortalised in plastic to make the Kollywood Barbie. He says, “I pick Shriya as she best complements the doll’s image, which is stylish and feminine. The style quotient in Shriya is what made me choose her.”
Vimmi Deepak, a socialite, says, “According to me, the replica of a face for a girls’ best friend should be young and cute. So for the Kollywood Barbie I feel Tamanna would be apt as she has an effervescent and young face to match with the doll’s image.”
However, some beg to differ, as they are keen on a Trisha-inspired doll. They say, “Trisha would be the perfect choice, as even in reality she is just like a doll. Her charming smile and beautiful eyes, which complement a great figure, make her perfect doll material.” Venkat Krishnan, a photographer, adds, “Trisha
